Introduction

Access is the ability to use something or to get somewhere. For example, if you have access to the Internet, you can use it. If you want to park your car at a mall, you need access to a parking lot at the mall (and there are usually signs indicating which areas are reserved for shoppers). Access also refers to having permission or being allowed by law or policy.

ACCESS

In computing, a file’s access permissions determine who can read, write, or execute the contents of that file. For example, if you have a Word document on your computer and someone else wants to view it but doesn’t have access rights to it themselves, they won’t be able to see it at all unless you permit them.

At first, the term access was used to mean “an approach” or “a way to get in.” In the world of technology, this meaning hasn’t changed much. When you want access to a piece of information—like a Web site or an item in a database—you want to be granted permission to locate and retrieve it. Access also refers to the ability to locate and use something like a computer file or program.

Access, as a noun, is the ability to get in. In this sense, “access” means “approach,” or “way of getting in.” For example:

  • A child could not access her bicycle without legs. The bicycle was too high for her to get on by lifting herself or climbing up with the help of a step stool.
  • If you had a problem gaining access to your house because you lost your keys and didn’t have any spares for locking the door from the outside, then you might need some help finding an alternative way inside (such as calling a locksmith).

In technology terms, “access” refers specifically to being granted permission from someone else—usually an administrator—to locate and retrieve something like information stored in a database or on the Internet; it also refers more broadly to having control over something such as program functions or specific features within an operating system (OS). For example:

  •  * You may find that there are many different ways available for accessing content online; all these methods provide different levels of convenience, speediness, reliability, and cost.
  • * Some applications require additional permissions beyond those included with normal user accounts before they can function successfully.
  • * To use email attachments effectively while working remotely through external connections such as wireless hotspots where bandwidth

Electronic mail (or e-mail) is one of the most popular ways to use the Internet for communication because it is convenient, cheap, and accessible from nearly any location with an Internet connection. Many individuals have e-mail addresses through their workplace or company, and others have personal e-mail addresses from ISPs or Web sites that offer free e-mail accounts.

E-mail messages are delivered electronically over phone lines or computer networks such as the Internet. They are sent to recipients whose electronic addresses are included in the message’s header information. The recipient either reads her inbox when she signs on to her account or downloads messages that have been automatically stored there while she was away from her terminal.

You can motivate yourself without being mean to yourself.

It’s important to remember that you are the one who can motivate yourself. You don’t need anybody else to do it for you.

If you’re having trouble getting motivated, it might help to set goals and break them down into small steps. Then each day, work on one of those steps until they all add up to your big goal!
